Terms of Service
Sign by My Record Locker
Effective November 15, 2026
The short version
- Sign lets you send PDFs for electronic signature and get back a signed copy with a record of who signed and when.
- Your documents are yours. We use them only to run Sign for you.
- You decide what to send and who should sign it. We don't give legal advice.
- Plans renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time.
- If something goes wrong, our responsibility is limited, as explained below.
- If we can't settle a disagreement between us, it goes to individual arbitration, not court. You can opt out within 30 days.
- If Sign changes owner, your account and documents carry on.
The rest of this page is the full agreement.
1. Who we are
Sign by My Record Locker ("Sign") is run by Kryptomneme LLC, a California limited liability company doing business as My Record Locker ("we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between us and you. If you use Sign for an organization, "you" also means that organization, and you confirm that you're allowed to agree on its behalf.
2. Who can use Sign
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. You can't use Sign if U.S. law forbids us from serving you.
3. Senders and signers
A sender has an account and sends documents. A signer opens a link we email them and signs. Signers don't need an account. By using a signing link, a signer agrees to these terms as far as they apply to signing. The plans and payment terms in section 7 apply only to senders.
4. Your account
You sign in with a code we email you, so your account is only as safe as your email. Keep your email secure, and tell us at hello@myrecordlocker.com if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what's done through your account.
5. Your documents
Everything you upload or type into Sign, including documents, names and field values, stays yours. You allow us to store, copy, display and send it only as needed to run Sign for you and the people you send to. For example, we put signers' entries into the signed copy and let every party download it. We don't sell your content, advertise against it, or use it to train AI models.
You confirm that you have the right to upload and send everything you put into Sign.
6. What Sign does, and what it doesn't
- Sign confirms that each signer controls the email address you gave for them. It records their consent to sign electronically, what they signed, and when. It does not check anyone's legal identity.
- You decide whether an electronic signature suits your document. Some documents, such as certain wills, court papers and notarized documents, may need a handwritten signature or another formality. We don't give legal advice.
- If you edit a document in Sign, we keep the file you uploaded, unchanged, as the original, together with the edited version and a record of each change. You review and approve the edited version before you send it, and that is the version your signers see and sign.
- Signing links stop working 5 days after they're sent, or one day later if the signer opens it on the last day. The sender can send a new link at any time.
7. Plans, envelopes and payment
What an envelope is. Each document you send for signature uses one envelope, however many signers it has. An envelope is used when you send the document, and a document you cancel later still counts.
Plans.
| Plan | Price | Envelopes |
|---|---|---|
| Annual | $200 a year | 200 per year |
| Monthly | $30 a month | 20 per month |
Extra envelopes. On an annual plan, you can buy 100 more envelopes for $100 at any time.
Unused envelopes don't carry over. Plan envelopes end with the year on an annual plan, or the month on a monthly plan. Extra envelopes end with the plan year you bought them in. Referral credits stay until you use them, while you have a plan.
Gift envelopes. An annual plan includes 4 gift envelopes each month. Each one goes to a different email address and lets that person send one document with Sign at no charge. Each email address can receive only one gift. A gift can't go to someone who already has a Sign plan, or who asked not to get gifts. A gift must be used within 30 days. Unused gifts don't carry over to the next month.
Referral credit. When someone buys an annual plan, one sender earns one free envelope: the person who sent them a gift, or if no one did, the sender of the last document they signed. Free envelopes are used before your plan's envelopes. Gifts and credits have no cash value, can't be sold or transferred, and can't be earned by sending to yourself or to accounts you control.
Payment. Plans renew automatically at the end of each year or month, and we charge the payment method on file. On an annual plan, we'll email you a reminder before each renewal, saying the date and the amount. Prices don't include taxes. We use a payment processor, so we never see your full card number.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in your account. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for, and then it doesn't renew. Payments aren't refunded except where the law requires it.
Price changes. We'll email you at least 30 days before any price change. A change applies from your next renewal, never mid-period.
8. Using Sign fairly
Don't use Sign to:
- break the law, or send documents meant to deceive or defraud;
- send messages to people who don't expect them, or spam;
- pretend to be someone else, or sign on someone's behalf without their authority;
- get into accounts or documents that aren't yours, test or break our security, or overload the service;
- copy, resell or rebuild Sign, or scrape it.
9. Feedback
If you send us an idea or suggestion, we may use it freely and owe you nothing for it.
10. Suspending or ending
You can stop using Sign at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or doesn't pay. We'll tell you first unless the law or a safety risk prevents it. If we close your account without good reason, we'll refund what you've paid for the time you haven't used.
When an account closes, documents still out for signature are canceled. We'll give you a reasonable chance to download your signed copies first. Documents that were sent for signature, and their signing records, are then kept securely for six years and deleted after that, as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to Sign and to these terms
Sign will change over time, and we may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and email account holders about changes that matter. Using Sign after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you don't agree, stop using Sign and cancel. A change to section 15 doesn't apply to a dispute already under way.
12. No guarantees
We work hard to keep Sign running and accurate, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promises beyond what these terms say. That includes promises that Sign will never be interrupted, will be free of errors, or will suit a particular purpose.
13. Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows:
- we aren't responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost business or lost data;
- our total responsibility for all claims together is limited to the larger of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.
These limits don't apply to anything the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as fraud, or harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence.
14. If someone makes a claim because of what you sent
If someone makes a claim against us because of a document you sent, or because you broke these terms or the law, you'll cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it. We'll tell you about the claim promptly and let you take part in handling it.
15. Disputes
Talk to us first. Write to hello@myrecordlocker.com and describe the problem and what you want. We'll both try in good faith to settle it within 30 days.
Then arbitration, not court. If we can't settle it, you and we agree to resolve any dispute about Sign or these terms by binding arbitration with one arbitrator, run by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules. You can choose to have it held by video or phone, on documents alone, or in person in the county where you live or in Contra Costa County, California. The arbitrator can award the same relief a court could award to you individually. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section.
Costs. If your claim is for less than $10,000, we'll pay the JAMS fees beyond what you would have paid to file in court, unless the arbitrator finds your claim was frivolous. Otherwise, JAMS rules decide who pays.
One at a time. You and we may bring claims only for ourselves, not as a plaintiff or class member in a class, group or representative action. The arbitrator can't combine claims from different people. If this paragraph can't be enforced for a particular claim, that claim goes to court instead of arbitration.
What stays out of arbitration. Either of us may:
- bring an individual claim in small claims court;
- go to court to stop someone misusing or copying Sign, or another person's intellectual property.
A request for an injunction that benefits the public goes to court once the individual claims are decided in arbitration.
Opting out. You can opt out of arbitration by emailing hello@myrecordlocker.com within 30 days of first accepting these terms, with your name, your account email and a statement that you opt out. Opting out doesn't change anything else in these terms.
No jury. Where a dispute does go to court, you and we each give up the right to a jury trial, as far as the law allows.
Law and place. California law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any court case allowed by this section will be heard in the state or federal courts in Contra Costa County, California, and you and we both agree to those courts. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you as a consumer where you live.
California residents. The Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs can be reached at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or (800) 952-5210.
16. If ownership changes
If Sign or Kryptomneme LLC is sold, merged or otherwise transferred, your account, documents and signing records transfer with it and continue under these terms.
17. The rest
These terms, and the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Sign. If part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given up the right to. We may transfer this agreement without your consent, including as part of a sale or merger. You may not transfer it without ours. Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control.
